Due to its two hydroxyl groups and high chemical reactivity, resorcinol is an important raw material in the production of adhesives, rubber chemicals, resins, dyes, pharmaceuticals, and specialty materials. It is particularly valued in the rubber industry for its role in resorcinol-formaldehyde (RF) resin systems used for bonding rubber to reinforcing materials such as steel and textile cords, also available as Pharma Grade.
